GySgt. (Ret) John W. Messer, USMC's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. John W. Messer, 82, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Friday, May 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Bro. Tommy Rape will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps at the graveside.
Mr. Messer passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at his residence. He was born on September 2, 1934 in Clay County, Alabama to Burl Dempsy Messer and Estelle Messer Lane. Mr. Messer was a very caring family man that was devoted to Robbie. Despite the gruff exterior that most people were accustomed to, John was always helping others.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Robbie Faye Messer of Alexander City; children, Brenda McCain (Mike) of Wetumpka, Pamela Parker of Alexander City, Kim Mazzilli of Alexander City, John Cody Messer of Jackson, Rachel McCollough (Barry) of Alexander City; fourteen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Greg Messer and parents.
