Randall Gene Hudson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was called home to be with the Lord on October 21, 2023. Born on June 8, 1948, in Clay County, Alabama, Randall lived a life full of faith, spirit, and intelligence. He was a man who loved the Lord, his family, and his community with all his heart.
Randall is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Shirley Hudson of Alexander City, AL. Their love story was one of deep commitment and mutual respect, a testament to the kind of man Randall was. He was a loving father to his children, Debora Lawhorn, Vickie Welcher (Mark), Chassady Hudson, Charles Lawhorn, and Mack Lawhorn. He was a proud grandfather to Wesley Stockdale (Amanda), Tammy Spraggins (Chris), Braden Welcher, Emily Welcher, Claribel Rodriguez, Tristyn Rodriguez, Reece Moss, Luca Moss, Dalton Lawhorn, Joshua East, and Joshua Welcher (Kayla). His legacy continues in his great-grandchildren, Gavin Stockdale, C.W. Spraggins, Bray Welcher, Andrew Spraggins, Bryanna Spraggins, Ryder East, Nirvanna Welcher, Lilli East, Ridley Lawhorn, Jaden Welcher, Diana Welcher, Kade Welcher and Nellie Welcher. He also leaves behind his nephews and niece, David Clifton Hudson, Walter Wayne Hudson, Donna Lockett (Barnes), and Grady Sellers, great-nephew Michael Eaton (Heather), and their children, Brian, Payton, and Holland Eaton.
Randall was preceded in death by his father, Walter Hudson, mother, Bessie Hill Hall, son, Jerry Lawhorn, brother, Venson Hudson, sister, Laven Sellers, niece, Sandra Sellers, and his pastor and friend, Rev. Hugh Twyman.
Randall spent his working years as a truck driver, a job that suited his love for the open road and the freedom it offered. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he was known for his reliability and dedication. He was a man who believed in the value of hard work and the dignity it brought.
A faithful member of the Alexander City Apostolic Church, Randall's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He loved the Lord and his church dearly, and his faith was evident in his actions and his words. He was a man who walked the walk, living out his faith every day in his interactions with others.
Randall was a man who loved the outdoors. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like cutting his grass or casting a line into a quiet lake. He was an avid fan of Alabama football, and he brought the same passion and spirit to cheering on his team as he did to every aspect of his life.
In the words of the good book, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Randall Gene Hudson was indeed a good and faithful servant, a man who lived his life with integrity, faith, and a spirit that was contagious. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on in the lives of his family and all those he touched with his kindness and love. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate his life and the many ways he blessed us. We take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, resting in the arms of the Lord he loved so dearly.
