Mrs. Lightsinger passed away peacefully December 30, 2021 ending her journey with Alzheimer’s Disease. She accepted God’s plan with grace and dignity. She was born on December 31, 1936 in Goodwater, Alabama to Lonnie Eric Hardman and Lorane Mizzell Hardman. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Alexander City and Goodwater Methodist Church. She served as the Youth Group leader at Goodwater Methodist Church, a Girl Scout Group Leader, and as a member of UMW. She is forever remembered for her love of family and her dedication to the care and support of multiple generations. This was her life’s mission. She devoted herself to the care of her parents, her husband, and many others. She carried on with many of her mother’s (Mema) traditions of family gatherings and started many cherished traditions of her own. She loved all of the grandchildren. We all remember the fun games at the lake, nights of dominoes, cards, and the annual wieners roast. She loved hosting family fish frys on instant demand and Christmas gatherings.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, John William Lightsinger; daughters, Sally Richter (Lee) of Lagrange, and Susan Selman (Breck) of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Luke Hurst (Tiffany), Lofton Beasley (Elizabeth), John Lee Richter (Kelsea), John Selman, and Hannah Selman; great-grandchildren, Analee Hurst, Brenan Hurst, Reese Beasley, and Jack Beasley; brothers, Johnny Hardman (Ann), and Gary Hardman (Susan), and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
