Mrs. Peggy Verne Peppers Easterwood's Obituary
Mrs. Peggy Verne Peppers Easterwood, known affectionately to all as Peggy, departed this life on December 11, 2025, at the age of 76, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity. Born on April 16, 1949, in Tallapoosa County to Hershel Leonard Peppers and Mary Elba Bailey Peppers, Peggy's journey through life was marked by her unwavering Christian faith, her devotion to her family, and her passion for nurturing both plants and people.
Peggy's heart was a garden where love bloomed in abundance. Her husband, Philip Easterwood of Dadeville, AL, stood by her side as a testament to their enduring partnership. Together, they created a family that was rooted in love and mutual respect. Her daughters, Crystal (Scott) Hurst and Stacy Brown, were the apples of her eye, and she cherished every moment spent guiding them through life's seasons.
Her brother, Glenn (Denise) Peppers, shared not only a childhood with Peggy but also countless memories that only siblings can craft. Peggy's life was further enriched by the joy of her grandchildren, Mary Beth Coker (Carter) Jones, Landon (Leighton) Coker, Clark Hurst, Carson Hurst, and Chappell Hurst, as well as her great-grandchildren, Everleigh Coker, Brody Coker, and Mary Katherine Jones, who brought a sparkle to her eyes and a spring to her step.
Peggy's parents, Hershel Leonard Peppers and Mary Elba Peppers, along with her siblings Lynn Peppers, Jim Lee Peppers, John A. Peppers, and Patsy Peppers Stephens, preceded her in death, and she carried their memories in her heart like cherished heirlooms.
Professionally, Peggy's life was dedicated to the service of others. Her tenure at Russell Hospital and The Meadows Assisted Living allowed her to touch the lives of many, offering comfort and care when it was most needed. Her colleagues and those she served will remember her for her compassion and unwavering commitment to their well-being.
Peggy's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her existence. It was this faith that imbued her with the strength to face life's challenges and the grace to celebrate its triumphs. She lived her beliefs through her actions, embodying the Christian virtues of kindness, charity, and love.
Her interests were a reflection of her inner beauty. An avid gardener, Peggy found peace and purpose in the soil, cultivating not just plants but also cultivating friendships and memories. Her pets knew her as a gentle and loving caretaker, and her close friends experienced the joy of her generous spirit and infectious laughter.
To speak of Peggy is to speak of a woman who was the embodiment of love, generosity, and humor. She had the remarkable ability to light up a room with her presence and to make every individual feel seen and valued. Peggy's legacy is not just in the family she raised or the people she helped but also in the laughter she shared and the joy she spread.
As we reflect on the life of Mrs. Peggy Verne Peppers Easterwood, let us carry forward her spirit of generosity, her love for life, and her infectious humor. She was a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire and motivate us all to live life to the fullest, to cherish our loved ones, and to spread kindness wherever we go. Peggy's story does not end here; it lives on in each of us, in every life she touched, and in the beauty of the world she so tenderly nurtured.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
