Peggie Ann Garrett's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Peggie Ann Garrett, 81, of Alexander City, will be Sunday, December 8, 2024 at 2:30 pm at Connect Church. Bro. Leland Sapp will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm at Connect Church.
Mrs. Garrett passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024 at her home. She was born on July 3, 1943 in Valley, Alabama to John William Sumlar and Lanie Gibson Sumlar. Peggie met the love of her life, Billy and they wed on July 17. 1962. She was a faithful member of Connect Church. Peggie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister. In her free time, she enjoyed putting together picture puzzles and crocheting. Most of all, she was a devoted Christian and loved going to church and worshipping the Lord. She found much joy in volunteering for events in which she could help others in need. She will truly be missed by all of those who loved her so dearly.
She is survived by her children, Tommy (Andrea) Garrett of Stockbridge, MI, Celina (Jason) Strickland of Alexander City, and Keith Garrett of Alexander City; grandchildren, Amber (Jay) Stiles, Kelsey (Tyler) Hampton, Brandon (Jessica) Powers, Daylan Renfro, and Victoria Renfro; great-grandchildren, Harleigh Stiles, Elizabeth Strickland, Grayson Stiles, Christopher Strickland, William Stiles, Rylee Hampton, Lilly Hampton, Katy Strickland, George Powers, and Clara Powers; and sister, Jeanette Bonner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest (Billy) Hoyt Garrett; brother, Roland Sumlar; sister, Barbara Moore; and grandson, Joshua Strickland.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the funeral expenses.
