Memorial Service for Mrs. Oowalah Henderson, 83, of Alexander City, will be Sunday, November 30, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Walker York will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 30, 2025 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Henderson passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, at her home in Alexander City, AL. Born on December 16, 1941, in Tulsa, OK, Oowalah's life was a testament to the power of kindness, commitment to family, and the joy of simple pleasures.
Oowalah's warmhearted spirit and infectious smile were her signature traits, leaving a lasting impression on friends and strangers alike. Cooking was not just a hobby for her; it was a way of nurturing the people she loved. Her kitchen was a hub of laughter, storytelling, and the wonderful aromas of her renowned dishes, which she generously shared at countless family gatherings and community events over the years.
An avid solver of crossword puzzles, Mrs. Henderson possessed a sharp mind and a love for the English language. This, combined with her fervent support for the Alabama Crimson Tide Football team, made autumn Saturdays an exciting affair where intellect met enthusiasm in her cozy living room filled with cheers.
Family was the centerpiece of Oowalah's world. Her daily phone calls with her children were more than mere conversations; they were cords of connection that wove a tight-knit fabric of love and support. Her grandkids brought immense joy to her life, and she invested in each moment with them, whether she was celebrating their triumphs or offering solace during life's inevitable challenges.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Katherine (Dean) Fourtenbary of Jacksons Gap and Donna Elaine (Benny) Stevens of Alexander City; son, Paul Roger (Pam) Rowan of Dadeville; grandchildren, Lisa Michelle McBride (Walker) York, Kevin Randall (Stephanie) McBride, Jason Ray Stewart, Michael Danny Phillips, Amanda Gale Phillips, Kelly Jeanette (Edward) Warnick, Pamela Christine (Tommy) Goodwin, Kristy Danielle (Michael) Teaster, Kelly Delaine (Matt) Evers, Brandon Stevens (Angela), and Benny Stevens (Tiffany); great-grandchildren, Devin, Destiney, Dhaylee, Laken, Daygen, Cody, Kalab, Autumn, Kara, Sara, Aubrey, Gunner, Chase, Damien, Jaydon, Josh, Haley, Zackery, Abby, Olivia, Gavin, Emma, Devon, Cailey, Chloe, Brady, Bailey, Landon, and Bralyn; great-great-grandchildren, Emily Brooklynn, Nolan, Kaiden, Liam, Sophia, Aubrey, Weston, Riley, Kaylee, and Madison; and brother, Jimmy Doyle "JD" (Sarah) Ayers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Aubrey Henderson; daughters, Debra Sue Whitman and Pamela Gale Jones; grandchildren, Erik Wayne Stewart and Melinda Catherine Moeshlin; sisters, Lessie Louise Ayers Ruffin, Tressie Marie Ayers Pennington, and Jacquetta Evalin Sanders; and brother, John Marion Ayers.
