Mrs. Ruthie Stallings Kennedy's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Ruthie Stallings Kennedy, 93, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Roger Green will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Ruthie Stallings Kennedy, affectionately known as Ruth to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024, in Alexander City, Alabama, at the age of 93. Born on May 23, 1930, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, Ruth's life was marked by an unwavering spirit of love, gentleness, and generosity that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Ruth's journey began as the cherished daughter of George Robert and Issie Lene Stallings. She grew up surrounded by the love of her siblings, a bond that would remain unbroken throughout her life. Ruth found her partner in life, Carson C. "Doc" Kennedy, and together they built a foundation of love and family until his passing. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Jewel Keel, Arthur Stallings, Lessell Worthy, and Aubrey Lee Stallings.
Ruth's legacy continues through her beloved family. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Jan Hillard and her husband, Dan; her adoring grandson, Greg Hillard and his wife, Heather; her cherished great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jenna Ross; her caring brother, John Robert Stallings and his wife, Betty; her loving sister, Minnie Belle Blair; and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
For 29 years, Ruth dedicated her professional life to Russell Corporation, where she worked as a Line Lady with commitment and pride. Her colleagues remember her as a pillar of strength and a source of wisdom within the workplace. Outside of her career, Ruth was actively involved in her community and church, having been a valued member of the Hillabee Baptist Church before relocating to Texas to be with her daughter.
Ruth's interests and talents were as diverse as they were rich. She was an excellent cook, renowned for her okra and green tomatoes, and took joy in hosting family and friends for gatherings that were always filled with laughter, love, and her signature dishes. Her love extended to all babies and animals, a testament to her kind and nurturing spirit. Ruth was also a creative soul, often found crafting and woodworking, leaving behind beautiful pieces that are treasured by her family.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Ruth would describe her as the epitome of love. She was gentle in her ways, always extending a hand of generosity to those in need. Her presence was a comfort, her smile a beacon of warmth, and her legacy one of unwavering care and affection for the world around her.
Ruth's life was a tapestry of moments that created a beautiful picture of devotion, hard work, and kindness. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take comfort in the knowledge that her influence will continue to be felt by everyone she touched. Ruthie Stallings Kennedy will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories passed down through generations and in the countless lives she enriched with her gentle soul.
