Funeral Service for Mrs. Melba Faye Brazzell, 89, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Hackneyville Baptist Church. Rev. Phillip Green, Bro. David Williams will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hackneyville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Melba Faye Brazzell, a beacon of unwavering faith and boundless love, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Born into the warm embrace of Arthur Payton Smith and Elsie Berneice Smith, Melba's journey through life was a testament to her generous spirit and nurturing heart.
Melba's legacy of love is carried on by her devoted children: Bennie Dale (Melba) Brazzell, David Wayne (Cindy) Brazzell, Norma Faye Brazzell, Richard Alan (Misty) Brazzell, Sharon Thomas (Richard McGuire), and Wanda Jean (Henry) Grubbs. Her life was further enriched by a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored and cherished deeply. While her passing leaves a void in their lives, the family takes comfort in the knowledge that she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Bennie Lawrence Brazzell, her loving father and mother, and her brothers, Larry Weldon Smith, and Lloyd Arthur Smith. The family also fondly remembers her grandson, Kevin Douglas Brazzell, who preceded her in death.
Melba's zest for life was evident in her many interests and hobbies. She was an avid reader, finding solace and adventure within the pages of countless books. Her love for word search puzzles kept her mind sharp and her days filled with the simple joy of solving a challenge. Many a visitor would find Melba sitting on her front porch, her favorite spot for visiting with family and friends, where conversations and laughter would flow as freely as the gentle breeze. Melba's culinary skills were legendary, and she took immense pleasure in cooking for her family, infusing every dish with love and care.
A passionate gardener, Melba's hands were often found in the soil of her beloved flower and vegetable garden.
