Mr. George Douglas "Doug" Hodge's Obituary
Memorial Service for Mr. George Douglas "Doug" Hodge, 87, of Alexander City, Alabama will be Monday, March 25, 2024 at 4:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Dr. Josh Sammons will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 25, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Doug, a cherished family man and respected member of his community, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Abanda, Alabama, on September 17, 1936.
Doug was a graduate of Benjamin Russell High School and later attended the University of Alabama during this time he enlisted in the National Guard Armory and was selected to the 20th Special Forces. He put his love for crafting into his work as the owner of Hodge Building Company, where his master craftsmanship could be seen in every project. Doug's leadership and commitment to his trade led him to become a Charter Member of the Tallapoosa County Home Builders Association.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Doug was known for his passion for gardening, with a special fondness for growing tomatoes. His talent for woodworking was more than just a hobby; it was a craft he honed over the years, creating pieces that were both functional and beautiful. Doug found joy in the simple pleasures, like fishing, visiting Farmers Markets, and, most importantly, spending quality time with his beloved family.
Family was truly the cornerstone of Doug's life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Diana Hodge; his loving children, Julie Albertson (Mark) and Steven Hodge (Jennifer); his adored grandchildren, Tristan Albertson, Sommer Woodley (Damien), and Lawson Hodge; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Keagan Albertson, Kipton Albertson, Nico Woodley, Lydia Woodley, and Waylon Albertson. Doug also leaves behind his sisters, Cathryn Payton (Milford) and Ann Hammond (Jerry), and his brother, Don Hodge.
Preceding him in passing was his daughter, Alisa Hodge Hovey, parents, Lena Froney Hodge and George Wiley Hodge, and sister, Janice Adair.
Doug's legacy is one of love, hard work, and enduring strength. His life lessons and values will continue to live on through his family and all who knew him and will continue to be cherished forever. Doug Hodge will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
