Michael Emeric Sturm, Sr.'s Obituary
A Catholic Mass for Mr. Michael "Mike" Emeric Sturm, Sr., 80, of Richmond, Texas, will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 4, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco, Texas. A graveside service will then be held at 10:30 am on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Hillview Memorial Park in Alexander City, Alabama. Rev. Bruce McClendon will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 9:00am until 10:00am at First Presbyterian Church located at 371 Jefferson Street, Alexander City.
Mike passed away in McKinney, Texas on November 25, 2023. He was born in Beeville, Texas on July 1, 1943 to Emeric Sturm and Josephine Magnia Sturm. Mike attended St. Joseph's School and graduated from A.C. Jones High School in 1961 where he was a member of the FFA, Varsity Football team, and was the runner-up for "Most Handsome" during his senior year. He was also a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beeville, Texas. In 1966, Mike went on to graduate from Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas with a Bachelors of Business Administration, and then proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve and Texas National Guard. He worked at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company (RJR) from 1967 to 1999 (32 years), primarily in sales and sales management. During his time with RJR, Mike and his family lived in Corpus Christi, Texas; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Amarillo, Texas; Tyler, Texas; Houston, Texas; Rosenberg, Texas; Loveland, Ohio; and Richmond, Texas. He was also an avid outdoorsman who grew up hunting with his father, grandfather, and uncles.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jeanette "Jenny" Lamborne Sturm; son, Michael Sturm, II (Wanda); daughter, Lelia Fite (Richard); grandson, Andrew Fite; sister, Mary Jo Gage (Paul); and aunt, Emma Miller.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Emeric and Josephine Sturm; mother-in-law, Dean Lamborne; father-in-law, Bill Lamborne; and many aunts and uncles.
