Michael Lynn Lashley, 66, of Alexander City, AL passed peacefully to his heavenly home May 21, 2023 surrounded by family.
Michael was a humble man who would not have considered himself particularly talented but, as his beloved wife often told him, he was wrong. He was gifted with mechanical and carpentry skills which he used throughout his life as a source of employment, as a hobby and also as a means to help his family, friends, neighbors and even strangers when he saw a need. Michael was a member of Orr Street Baptist Church in Alexander City, AL.
Michael loved the outdoors, particularly the beach. His fondest childhood memories were beach vacations with his siblings and cousins which he loved to recreate with his family throughout his life. Michael was an avid sports fan including Alabama football, golf, racing, playing softball, and mixed martial arts. He enjoyed camping with his family and fishing trips with his brother. Michael had an amazing sense of humor and loved to laugh and tell jokes. Michael was happiest when surrounded by his family most notably his grandchildren who never failed to fill him with pride and joy.
Michael is survived by his wife, Amy Ray Lashley, son Steven Lashley (Alyson) granddaughters Mady and Lola Lashley and son David Lashley (Nacomi) grandsons Noah and Nash Lashley, stepchildren Megan Carlisle, Heather Fuller (Robert), Jason Carlisle (Lori) and their families, sister-in-law Sharon Lashley, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and was a dearly beloved PawPaw (and Uncle Pete) to all.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth Lorene Whaley, father Willie Elton Lashley, brother Douglas Lashley, sister Shirley Smelley, brother-in-law Roger Smelley.
Deepest and most heartfelt thanks are conveyed to all of Michael’s extended family and friends for the prayers, visits, helpful hands, gifts, and love given during his prolonged illness with a special mention to Keith Lashley and Michael Stinson.
