Mr. Michael Lynn Border's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. Michael Lynn Border, 78, of Alexander City, will be Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Donald DeLee and Randy Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Border passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026 at his home in Alexander City. Born on December 15, 1947 in Akron, Ohio to Wilbert Border and Joyce Rita Couvillon Storey, Mike became known for his magnanimous spirit and enduring faith throughout his journey in life.
Mike committed many years of service to the Dowdle Gas Company, where his dedication and strong worth ethic were evident to all who worked alongside him. His civic-minded nature also led him to serve with the distinction of a Police Officer for the City of Dadeville, a role in which he protected and served his community with pride and integrity.
A devout Christian, Mike's faith was a central cornerstone of his life. He was a dedicated member of the West End Baptist Church, where he lived his faith through actions and words, touching the hearts and nourishing the spirits of those around him.
Mike's passion for life extended beyond his professional and spiritual contributions. He will fondly be remembered for the joy he found in simple pleasures. He was an ardent fan of westerns, immersing himself in the grand tales of the old frontier. He channeled his life into the realm of antiques, a hobby that he flourished over the years with well-curated booth at Longleaf, where he shared his finds with fellow enthusiasts.
His lively spirit led him to widely, pursuing adventures, friendships, and the warmth of the sun of many golf courses he played. On the softball field, he was as energetic and competitive as in his youth. He also possessed a talent for bowling, participating in a local league for several years, where his skill and camaraderie were greatly admired.
The outdoors called to Mike in a profound way, particularly the serene environment of Wind Creek State Park, where he dedicated countless hours as a volunteer. In those peaceful natural surroundings, he experienced some of his fondest moments, camping under the stars and gathering with friends around a campfire, sharing stories and laughter into the night.
The profound impact Mike left on those who knew cannot be measured. His legacy of compassion, commitment to his community, and the bright light of his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by love, service and unwavering faith that guided him home. Our dear Mike will be profoundly missed yet forever cherished in the memories he leaves behind.
He is survived by his wife, of 38 years Donna Border of Alexander City; son, Shawn (Kelly) Border of Hueytown; daughters, Christy Blair, Connie (Jamie) Taylor, and Misty (Nic) Hunt, all of Alexander City; grandchildren, Savannah (Michael Melton) Harris, Cheyenne (Logan) Turner, Micah Blair, Grant (Courtney) Taylor, Reagan Taylor, Joshua Hunt, Carson Lucas, and Jarred Hunt; great-grandchildren, Paisley Harris, Payton Moore, Ryver Melton, Bella Turner, Brinnleigh Turner, and Bristol Taylor; and brother, Edward (Carolyn) Storey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Alivia Sorrell; and brother, Tommy Border.
