He found his lifelong partner in Annie Pearl Sherrer, and together they built a family rooted in love and mutual respect. Melvin's life was further blessed with the joy of his children, Bobby Sherrer (Patricia), Tony Sherrer, Rickey Sherrer of Jacksons Gap, AL, and Travis Sherrer (Julie) of Newnan, GA. Sister-in-law, Eloise Sherrer. The legacy of his love is carried on by his ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the memories and lessons he imparted.Melvin's sister, Myrtice Crawley, remains to honor her brother's memory, reflecting on the bonds of siblinghood that enriched their lives. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annie Pearl Sherrer, his father, Manley Cas Sherrer, his mother, Annie Lou Sherrer, and his siblings, Gordon Sherrer, Billy Sherrer, Bonnie Sherrer, and Rudine Ray. Each of them held a special place in his heart and their influence shaped the man he became.Professionally, Melvin dedicated many years to Owens Corning Fiberglass, where his diligent work ethic and collaborative spirit earned him the respect of his colleagues. His retirement from the company marked the end of an era of commitment to excellence and the beginning of new adventures that he embraced with his characteristic zest for life.An avid outdoorsman, Melvin's interests painted the picture of a man deeply connected to the natural world. Working with bird dogs, he developed a profound understanding and appreciation for the harmony between man and animal. His love for hunting was matched only by his passion for fishing for catfish, where he found solace and joy in the stillness of nature. Melvin's athletic side shone through in his love for playing softball, a sport that allowed him to forge friendships and stay active.Described as selfless, wise, and handy, Melvin was the embodiment of a life of service and ingenuity.
