Mary Nell Pemberton's Obituary
A Private Family Funeral Service for Mary Nell Pemberton, 95, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be held Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 2:30 PM at Flint Hill United Methodist Church. Rev. John Hill and Rev. Mike Jackson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Flint Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Flint Hill United Methodist Church.
Due to COVID restrictions the visitation will be open to the public as well as the Committal Service at the Cemetery. The Funeral Service will be live streamed at www.flinthillchurch.com and the Flint Hill UMC facebook page.
Mary Nell passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Emory-St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta. She was born on September 18, 1925 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Earnest Edward Forbus and Minnie Ola McClellan Forbus. Mary Nell loved her family dearly; especially all of her grandchildren. She would help anyone and had a special love for helping children in need. Mary Nell enjoyed traveling; especially to Alaska where she had several encounters with Sarah Palin and going to Africa on mission trips. She had a passion for cooking and feeding others with a special meal and enjoyed having her hair styled and keeping up with the latest fashions. She was an active member of Flint Hill United Methodist Church where she was the founder of the Mary Nell Pemberton Circle. Mary Nell volunteered at Jim Pearson School, Chapman’s Nursing Home, and the Tallapoosa County Crisis Center for many years.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Jackson (Phil) and Connie Jackson (Mike); son, Larry Pemberton (Nancy); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, and sister, Gale McConnell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Grady Pemberton; daughter, Debra Wills; son, Glenn Pemberton, and three sisters.
The family will accept flowers or memorials may be given to, Flint Hill UMC/Kitchen Fund, 2858 Flint Hill Road, Alexander City, Alabama 35010.
All visitations and services will be held in compliance with the mandated rules from Alabama Dept of Public Health.
