Mary Kathryn Lilly's Obituary
The family of Ms. Mary Kathryn Lilly, 63, of Alexander City, AL, will receive friends on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mary Kathryn Lilly, known by most as Kathy, was a beacon of love and joy. She passed away peacefully in her sleep early Monday morning on November 4, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, kindness and an unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Born into the loving arms of Paul T. Lilly and Joanne Moore Lilly, Kathy grew up in Alexander City alongside her siblings David Lilly, Paula Burton, John Lilly and Christoper Lilly. Kathy went through the Alexander City school system and graduated from Benjamin Russell High School.
Kathy was the embodiment of what it means to have a strong work ethic. Her professional life was marked by a remarkable tenure of over three decades with Russell Corporation, where she was not only a dedicated employee but also a friend to many. Her infectious smile and positive energy touched the hearts of everyone who worked around her, earning her respect and admiration of her colleagues.
Outside of work, Kathy’s interests were as vibrant and diverse as her personality. She was an avid music fan who enjoyed the works of a wide array of artists and genres. Her love of music was handed down by her father who was a musician. As a child, she would often spend time listening to her father play and sing along with her brothers and sister.
Kathy was an Alabama football fan and shared the love of the game with the entirety of her friends and family. She loved friendly competition amongst friends and cherished spending game days with the people she loved.
An adventurer at heart, Kathy loved to travel and spend time in the great outdoors. She loved to camp and spend time at the lake. She loved to visit the beach as much as possible and she loved the serenity of visiting the Great Smoky Mountains. Kathy was known to love to ride motorcycles with her friends and family.
Her spirited nature made her the life of any gathering, as she was a true social butterfly who loved to dance and bring smiles to the faces of those around her. Kathy’s warmth and charm made her not just a friend but a sweet lady who was cherished by all who knew her.
Those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with Kathy would undoubtedly describe her as loving, funny and thoughtful. She had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel special, and her humor brought light to even the darkest days.
Kathy is survived by a family who adored her deeply: her son, Anthony East and his wife Gail Campbell of Duluth, GA: her granddaughter, Lillian Campbell East: her brothers, David, John and Christopher: her nieces, Tish Baker, Kerin O’Hara and Christol Jacobs: her nephew Brian Lilly, along with many great-nieces and nephews.
Mary Kathryn Lilly’s life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family. Her laughter will echo in the hearts of those she leaves behind, and her spirit will continue to inspire us all. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we celebrate the countless moments of joy she bestowed upon us and honor her memory by living life to the fullest, just as she did! Kathy’s legacy will endure through the lives of those she touched, for she was truly one of a kind.
