Mrs. Martha, affectionately known as "Granny" to everyone, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 23, 1948 in Dadeville, Alabama to J.C. Moncus and Atha Pritchard Moncus. Martha was a feisty, headstrong woman who spoke what was on her mind. She loved the mountains, watching Gunsmoke, cooking, and faithfully supporting her Alabama football team. Martha enjoyed the roses in her front yard and how beautiful they would grow and bloom. The same couldn't be said for her poor house plants since she would humbly admit she didn't have a "green thumb." Martha spent years working as a manager for several dry cleaners around town. She had several titles over the years, but the favorite one was Granny. It was no secret that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Family was the most important thing to her. She was a loving wife, mother, and "Granny" to all that she knew.
Martha is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Anthony Waldrop; daughter, Martha (Jeff) Keel; son, Thomas (Jennifer) Berry; grandchildren, Tiffany (Joseph) Blankenship, Heather (Austin) Martin, Amber (Hunter Clark) Keel, Kim Downs, Kayla (Cesar) Cruz, Tiffany (Ray) Turner; great-grandchildren, Bentleigh Blankenship, Evelyn Blankenship, Benjamin Blankenship, Rowan Martin, Brodie Turner, Sawyer Turner, Jacob Cruz, Pedro Cruz, Yeni Cruz, Milli Cruz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Atha Moncus; brothers, Joe Moncus, Vernon Moncus, and Luther Moncus.
