Mrs. Marilyn Elizabeth Dennis Boyd's Obituary
Marilyn Elizabeth Dennis Boyd passed away at the age of 94 on October 5, 2024, in Richmond, Kentucky. Marilyn was born on April 10, 1930, in Elmore County, Alabama. She graduated from Auburn University with a double major in Science & Education and a minor in Music. Marilyn furthered her education obtaining a master’s degree at Carver School of Missions at Southern Seminary and a master’s in Education from University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. She taught in various schools in Alabama and Kentucky. She also served alongside her husband in ministry in North Carolina, Alabama and Kentucky for 50 years. She served as the first woman moderator for the Long Run Baptist Association in Louisville, Kentucky. Marilyn was a gifted pianist and played in churches and assisted living homes throughout her life. She loved to share the Gospel message by handing out Bibles to people she met in the community. She was also known as a woman of prayer, and she had prayer journals with names of people and their prayer needs that she faithfully prayed over daily. Marilyn’s legacy of faith, wisdom and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Val & Gertrude Blake Dennis and her husband of 61 years, Edward Roland Boyd. She is survived by her daughter Melodie Ledford of Richmond, KY; her son, Mark (Michelle) Boyd of Daphne, AL; Charlie Ledford of Knoxville, TN; other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, at Hillview Memorial Park in Alexander City, Alabama.
