Funeral Service for Mrs. Lorinza Knight, 94, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Monday, July 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Randy Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lorinza Bryant Knight, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Alexander City, AL on July 14, 2023. Born on March 5, 1929, she lived a fulfilling life that spanned 94 wonderful years.
Lorinza was a devoted homemaker, who dedicated her life to nurturing her family and creating a warm and loving home. She was a woman of many talents, with a particular passion for sewing. Her handmade quilts, lovingly crafted for her grandchildren, are treasured family heirlooms. Lorinza found great joy in baking, and her tea cakes were the highlight of family gatherings. Her love for creativity extended to coloring sessions with her friends at the Willows, where she was a beloved member of the community.
Her Christian faith was a cornerstone in her life, and she was a regular attendee at Rocky Creek Baptist Church. Lorinza found solace in reading daily devotionals, which kept her spiritually nourished and grounded. Her unwavering faith was an inspiration to all who knew her and will continue to be a source of comfort to her family.
Lorinza was characterized by her kindness, love, and selflessness. These attributes were reflected in her everyday interactions with those around her. To quote Mark Twain, "Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see." Lorinza's kindness was a language that she spoke fluently, and it touched the hearts of all those fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Janet Thornton (Eddie Hyder) of Mobile, AL, and Bonita Calhoun (Dale) of Wetumpka, AL. She was a cherished grandmother to Joe Thornton (Jennifer), Andrew Calhoun, and Nicole Calhoun. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Timothy Thornton and Marianne Thornton. Lorinza leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, J.D. Knight, her parents, William and Susie Browning Bryant, and four brothers: Rilance Bryant, Cranford Bryant, Cecil "Sausage" Bryant, and Harold Bryant.
Lorinza's passing is a significant loss to her family, friends, and community. However, her legacy lives on in the values she instilled in her family and the love she shared with everyone she met. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness and love, and she will be remembered for her unwavering spirit and the joy she brought to others.
In life, Lorinza gave us all a model of compassion and selflessness. In death, she leaves a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire and guide us. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her life and the many ways in which she touched our hearts and enriched our lives. Though she may be gone, her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the love she shared.
We will always remember Mrs. Lorinza Bryant Knight, a beacon of love, kindness, and selflessness. Her light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts and memories.
