Linda Diane Simmons' Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Linda Diane Simmons, 79, of Alexander City, will be Monday, July 29, 2024 at 11:00 am CDT at Wayside Baptist Church. Rev. Larry Cummings will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am CDT at Wayside Baptist Church. The Committal service will be Monday, July 29, 2024 at 2:00 pm CDT at East Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in LaGrange, GA.
Mrs. Diane passed away peacefully at her home on July 25, 2024, in Alexander City. Born on June 28, 1945, in LaGrange, GA to R.C. Stillwell and Lois Spradlin Stillwell, Diane dedicated her life to the noble profession of education, touching countless lives with her wisdom and compassion as a Special Education Coordinator before her retirement.
Diane's love for her family was immeasurable; she was a beacon of kindness and gentleness, a loving wife, a nurturing mother, an adoring grandmother, and a cherished great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of Wayside Baptist Church. Her hobbies brought her much joy; she could often be found engrossed in a good book, creating beautiful crochet pieces, or indulging in a bit of shopping and fellowshipping with friends and family. She was an avid Auburn football fan and loved to cheer her Tigers on.
Her legacy is one of love and gentle guidance, and she will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Diane's kind spirit and loving nature will forever be remembered and celebrated.
She is survived by her son, Drew (Laura) Simmons; grandchildren, Kayla Simmons, Corbin Simmons, Jadon Sims, Lily Sims, Nick Hodges, Cole Freeman, Trent Freeman, and Preston Goss; great-grandchildren, Easton Holt and Langston McGehee; brother, Mack (Cathy) Stillwell; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Chuck Simmons; and sister, Maxine Cook.
