Mrs. Linda Johnston Shaffer's Obituary
Graveside Service for Mrs. Linda Johnston Shaffer, 56, of Alexander City, will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 12 noon at the Hillview Memorial Park. Rev. Wayne Cowhick will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shaffer passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 at her residence. She was born on April 28, 1960 in Alexander City, Alabama to Kenneth Clemons Johnston and Sybil Pemberton Johnston. She graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Development and was Director of the First Presbyterian Day School for many years. Later she became a real estate agent and worked for Century 21 and Remax Around the Lake. Linda loved Auburn football, traveling to the beach and spending precious moments with her family. She was a member of Alexander City Methodist Church and enjoyed the Praise Band. She was a tireless advocate for breast cancer research and was a mentor to many women that were diagnosed with that disease. She loved her dog and companion Iris.
She is survived by her, husband, Blake Shaffer, Jr. of Alexander City; daughter, Lacey Shaffer Howell (John) of Jacksons Gap; son, Blake Shaffer, III (McKenzie) of Opelika; mother, Sybil Johnston of Alexander City; and brothers, Lee Johnston and Mike Johnston of Ft. Lauderdale.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Clemons Johnston.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alexander City Methodist Church 1020 11th Avenue North Alexander City, AL 35010.
