Mrs. Linda Barnes Chambers' Obituary
Graveside Service for Mrs. Linda Barnes Chambers, 79, of New Site, Alabama, will be Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 3:30 pm at Hillview Memorial Park. Randy Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Linda Barnes Chambers, 79,of New Site, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, at her home.
Linda was born on July 31, 1946, to Jake & Martha Dean Barnes. She was a proud graduate of New Site High School and Auburn University. Linda devoted her life to education, teaching first at Hackneyville High School and later at Horseshoe Bend School. Her remarkable teaching career spanned 39 years, during which she touched countless lives and formed lifelong friendships with fellow educators.
Linda was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She was a devoted Auburn Fan who loved sports of all kinds and especially enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves. She was an excellent bowler and enjoyed playing softball, basketball, and tennis in her younger years. In her quiet moments, Linda found joy in crocheting baby blankets and tending to her beautiful daylilies. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her lifelong teacher friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Dale) McCain, sons Stephen (April) Chambers, and Jay Chambers; her brother Buddy (Trudy) Barnes and sister Debbie (Johnny) Railey; her grandchildren Hayden Whaley, Jax Chambers, and Waverly Chambers; her great-grandchildren Hadley Waites and Hudson Whaley and her nieces, Lindsey Campbell and Mallory Railey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 54 years, Ray Chambers; and her son Timothy Chambers.
