Lewis Cole Nelson passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, in Alexander City, Alabama, at the age of 55. He was born on March 7, 1970, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.
Lewis' life was a testament to the power of simple pleasures and the beauty of a loving heart. He found joy in the quiet moments, whether it was getting lost in the adventures of his favorite Westerns or cheering on the escapades of the Dukes of Hazard. His love for collecting Hot Wheels was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his youthful spirit.
To those who knew him, Lewis was the embodiment of gentleness and affection. His warm smile and tender nature made him a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend. Lewis’ love for his family was the cornerstone of his life, and it was this love that he considered his greatest legacy.
He is survived by a family who adored him: his loving mother, June Carlisle Nelson; his devoted sister, Lisa Nelson Ballard and her husband Wesley; his nieces and nephew, Jessica Ozgowicz (Ray), Brittany Ballard Powell (Reese), Lauren Ballard Queen (Will), Brooke Nicole Ballard, Gabrielle Lexus Nelson, and Nathan Cole Nelson; and his treasured great-nieces and great-nephews, Nick, Luke, and Hank Queen, Troy and Courtney Powell, and Ethan and Evan Ozgowicz. His caring uncle, Billy Wayne Nelson (Cynthia), will also hold Lewis’ memory dear.
Lewis was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Lynn Nelson, and his brothers, Bobby Leonard Nelson and Terry Lynn Nelson. Their reunion in eternity is a comforting thought for those who loved them.
Radney Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Lewis Cole Nelson.
