Mrs. Leta Marie Mitchell's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Leta Marie Mitchell, 82, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Pastor Scott Epperson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 28, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mitchell passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at her residence. She was born on October 6, 1940, in Sylacauga, Alabama to Van Johnson and Elsi Mae Allen Johnson. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Leta was a hard-working woman, independent woman who prided herself on caring for her family. She never gave up and to some was considered to be a bit hardheaded. She enjoyed trips to the casino with her grandchildren. Her many talents included painting, sewing, cooking, and writing poetry. She also enjoyed fishing and singing.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Laverne Martin (Robert Parsons); grandchildren, Misty Rogers (Melanie), Shanda Neloms (Sherrod), Josh Epperson (Shana), Angel Rogers, Kris Epperson (Susie), Timothy Rogers (Nancy), Danny Rogers; great-grandchildren, Brian Barnes, Allyson Barnes, Andrew Barnes, Nick Barnes, Alexander Barnes, Racheal Barnes, Jonathan Neloms Jr., Zack Neloms, Autumn Rogers, John Rogers, Molly Rogers, Lyam Rogers, Braxton Epperson, Garrett Epperson, Zoey Epperson, Dalton Rogers; great-great-grandchildren; Lucas French, KJ Barnes, Jaden Barnes, Andrew Barnes Jr., Brian Barnes; sister, Earlene Williams (Ronald); her loving fur baby Nae Nae and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Harold Earl Epperson; second husband, Bennie Mitchell; son, Keith Earl Epperson; grandson, John Rogers; sisters, Lavonia Laskaris, Louise Nashworthy, Adell Jones, Geraldine Allen and brothers, John Henry Johnson, Odell Johnson, and Baby Johnson.
