Funeral Service for Mr. Leon Charles White, 88, of Weogufka, Alabama, will be Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Drake will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bay Pine Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Leon Charles White, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2024, at the age of 88 in Weogufka, Alabama. Charles was born on January 19, 1935, in Kellyton, Alabama,.Charles's life was one of commitment and service, reflected in his dedicated career as an air traffic controller. His work, often behind the scenes, ensured the safety and efficiency of countless flights.An avid traveler, Charles's sense of adventure took him to many beautiful places, but he always cherished the comfort of returning home to Alabama.Charles's spirit and skills were not confined to his work and hobbies. He was also a handyman who could fix almost anything, a talent that he often put to use for the benefit of his family and friends. He was a great storyteller whose memory was keen for the details he chose to remember.He is survived by his beloved wife, Dawn White of Weogufka, AL; daughters, Donna White of Marietta, Ga, Linda Freeman (Mark) of Birmingham, Al, and Diane Kay (Scott) of Sylacauga, Al; sons, Danny White (Cheryl) of Marietta, GA, and Dale White (Karen) of Alexander City, AL. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Josh Smith (Angie), Carissa Neville (Justin), Johnny Mathewson, Paul Mathewson (Cameron), Barret Trowbridge (Stuart), Jami Mathewson (Dev), Amanda Auclair (Salem), Anna Uhrig (Drew), Darren Smith (Brook), Laycee Sherbert, Austin Vandiver, Nicholas Vandiver, and Kristin Billodoux. He was also a proud great-grandfather to eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Ed Champion; mother, Litha Champion; first wife, Elizabeth White; and sister, Inez Smith.The family of Leon Charles White would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time.
