Mrs. Lenora J. McGuire's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Lenora J. McGuire, 83, of Chelsea, formerly of Alexander City, will be Friday, May 1, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Cowhick will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 30, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. McGuire passed away on April 28, 2026, at South Haven Nursing Home in Hoover, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, hard work, faith, and love that will be remembered by all who knew her.
Lenora was born on May 31, 1942, in Talladega, Alabama to Edward Ray Johnson and Doris Pruet Johnson. She carried the values of her upbringing throughout her life, and those who knew her came to admire her for her gracious spirit, her gentle nature, and her unwavering commitment to the people and responsibilities that mattered most to her. She lived with dignity and purpose, and she touched many lives through her kindness and example.
A devoted and hardworking woman, Lenora spent more than 46 years employed with Russell Corp, where she was respected for her dedication and reliability. Her long career reflected her strong work ethic and her sense of responsibility, and she took pride in doing her work well. She was the kind of person others could depend on, and her presence was a steady and reassuring one to those who worked alongside her. Her years of service stood as a testament to her perseverance and commitment.
Outside of her work, Lenora found joy in the simple and meaningful things of life. She was a skilled jewelry maker, and her creativity and patience were reflected in the beautiful pieces she crafted. Lenora was also skilled in the kitchen, well known as a very talented baker and cook. She also loved reading her Bible, drawing strength and comfort from her faith. Her spiritual life was an important part of who she was, and it guided the way she lived each day. Lenora especially cherished time spent with her family, and she found great happiness in being surrounded by those she loved. She also enjoyed traveling with her son and daughter-in-law, creating memories that brought her joy and remained dear to her heart.
Lenora will be remembered as a loving mother, a devoted family member, and a faithful woman whose life was grounded in love and service. She had a warm heart and a kind presence, and she made those around her feel valued and cared for. Her life was a blessing to her family and friends, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Though she has departed this earthly life, the example Lenora set through her faith, her work, and her love for family will endure. Her life was one of purpose, grace, and quiet strength, and she leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished for generations. May she be remembered with love and gratitude for the beautiful life she lived.
She is survived by her son, Larry "Chip" Floyd (Teresa) McGuire, Jr. of Chelsea; brother, Walter (Jane) Johnson of Dadeville; nephews, James (Beth) Johnson of Wetumpka and Ray (Kim) Johnson of Franklin, KY; nieces, Crystal (Randy) Thompson of Moulton and Tina (David) Klundt of Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Guynette White of Prattville and Delores Coger of Alexander City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Floyd McGuire Sr.; and son, Larry Frank McGuire; and sister-in-law, Glenda Bice.
