Funeral Service for Bro. Bro. Lamar Veazey, 93, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Wayside Baptist Church. Rev. Larry Cummings will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home. Military Honors will be provided by the Alexander City Veteran’s Honor Guard.
Lamar's life was marked by an enduring commitment to his family, faith, and community. He was a loving husband to his wife, Gaye Ingram Holley Veazey of Alexander City, AL, a devoted father to his sons, Tommy Eugene Veazey (Melanie) and Steve Holley (Sabie), and his daughter, Donna McMeans (Ernest). He was a proud grandfather to Steven Holley (Shari), Courtney Hamilton, and a doting great-grandfather to Eli and Gray Hamilton, and Christina Holley. Lamar's family was his pride and joy, and he leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire them.
Lamar was born to Thomas Clark Veazey and Venson Veazey. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Vera Mae Veazey.
After completing his Bible Studies, Lamar felt a calling to serve others and embarked on a journey that would see him ministering for over 40 years. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his actions and decisions. His sermons touched countless hearts and brought comfort and guidance to many. His spiritual leadership was a testament to his unwavering faith and dedication to serving God and his community.
Lamar's commitment to service extended beyond the church. He served his country with honor in the Air Force during the Korean War. His patriotism and dedication to duty were yet another testament to his character and his belief in the value of service to others.Lamar had a passion for gardening, which he pursued with as much dedication as he did everything else in his life.
