Rev. Kenneth Ray Neeley Sr.'s Obituary
Funeral Service for Rev. Kenneth Ray Neeley, 82, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Sunday, March 2, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Orr Street Baptist Church. Rev. Kenneth Neeley will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Rev. Bruce Willis, Dr. Albert Pike, Rev. David Grier will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Neeley passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family enjoying his favorite hymns and praising God as he was eternally healed. He was born on March 31, 1942 in Lenoir City, Tennessee to Charlie Neeley, Jr. and Maude Patrick Neeley. He was a proud member of Orr Street Baptist Church. Rev. Neeley was an ordained minister for 52 years and served numerous surrounding churches.
Rev. Kenneth Ray Neeley, a beacon of light and love, completed his earthly journey on February 26, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on March 31, 1942, Kenneth's life was defined by devotion to his family, unwavering faith, and a tireless commitment to serving others.
Kenneth's legacy is cherished by his beloved wife, Claire LaFaye Neeley of Alexander City, AL, with whom he shared love and companionship for more than 60 years. He was a proud father to his sons, Kenneth Ray (Kimberly Kay) Neeley Jr. of Birmingham, AL, and Jason Scott (Renae) Neeley of Birmingham, AL. His role as a grandfather was one of his greatest joys, leaving behind precious memories for Kyle Ray (Alli) Neeley, Ansley Addison Neeley, Raylie Claire Neeley, John Thomas Neeley, Matthew Cole Neeley, Jaycie Renae Neeley, and Nathan Luke Neeley. His love will continue to shine in the lives of his great-grandchildren, Noah Stone Neeley and Stella Gray Neeley. Kenneth is survived by his sister, Janice Neeley Patrick. A host of nieces and nephews will truly miss his witty personality. His spirit is now reunited with his late father, Charlie Neeley, Jr., mother, Maude Neeley, sister, Faye Miller, and brother, Ernest Neeley, who preceded him in death.
Kenneth's life was marked by a profound sense of duty and service. He proudly served his country as an Army veteran before answering a higher call to become an ordained minister. For 52 years, he spread hope and faith, touching countless lives through his ministry. Kenneth's dedication to his community was further exemplified by his 18-year tenure managing Southern Shoes. His warm personality and generous spirit made him a beloved figure in recent years at Town and Country Shoe Repair. Rev. Neeley commonly referred to being in the "Sole" and "Soul" business.
Those who knew Kenneth will remember him as a man of humor, always ready with a joke to brighten someone's day. His selfless nature was evident in every aspect of his life, always putting others before himself. His generosity knew no bounds, and it was reflected in the way he lived his life, always giving to those in need without a second thought.
Kenneth's interests included serving God and spending time with family and friends. His laughter and joy were infectious, and his presence brought comfort and strength to those around him. His guidance, both spiritual and personal, was sought after by many, and his counsel will be sorely missed.
