Kenney passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023, at his home in Jacksons Gap. Born on December 26, 1954, in Mobile, AL, he was a man of generosity, adventure, and passion, who lived his life to the fullest.
Kenney was a proud graduate of Central Alabama Community College. His dedication to service led him to serve his country in the United States Army. After his service, he became a self-employed brick mason, a role he performed with skill and pride for many years.
A man of many interests, Kenney was a familiar face at Lakewind Golf Course, where he loved to play rounds with his friends. He was a member of a local bowling league, and his spirit of adventure was evident in his love for his Harley Davidson. He went on many extended trips, always ready to explore the open road. His catchphrase, "Yeah, well," will be fondly remembered by those who knew him. He also enjoyed the tranquility of fishing, a pastime that allowed him to appreciate the beauty of nature.
Kenney is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Barbara "Bobbie" Diane Walton of Jacksons Gap; his loving daughter, Jamie Peine (Chris) of Waxhaw, NC; and his son, Jason Walton (Tiffany) of Kellyton. He was the proud grandfather of Addy Elisabeth Walton and Emmerson Elizabeth Peine. He also leaves behind his mother, Katie Ann Walton, his sisters, Kathy Mims (Curtis) and Deb Crouch (Nathan), and his brothers, Eddie Walton (Sharon) and Jeff Walton (Tabitha). He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Walton.
Kenney's life was full of joy, and his vibrant personality touched many. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of generosity, adventure, and passion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Kenney will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the stories shared and memories cherished.
