Mrs. Katherine Willoughby Hamlet Hester's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Katherine Willoughby Hamlet Hester, 94, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 3:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Harris and Rev. Bennie Lee Yates will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem-New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hester passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at her residence. She was born on July 16, 1928 in Tallapoosa County to William Walter Willoughby and Ovada Whaley Willoughby. She was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church and she attended Comer Baptist Church. She retired from Playtex and Russell. She enjoyed going to the nutrition center and playing dominos. She loved attending pickin'-n-grinnin'. More than anything, she loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Janice Whetstone (Leonard) of Kellyton, Kathy Powell of Alexander City, Cynthia Hill of Wadley, and Amy Adams (Mike) of Alexander City; sons, Thurman Hamlet (Brenda) of Ourtown and Jeff Hamlet (Cynthia) of Wadley; daughter-in-law, Susan Hamlet of Alexander City; sister, Sadie Sherum of Daviston; brother, Clifford Willoughby (Geraldine) of Daviston; 21 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Albert Jefferson Hamlet; husband, William Howard Hester; son, Elvin Hamlet; son-in-law, Andy Hill; brothers, Eldridge Willoughby, Boyd Willoughby, and Jack Willoughby; and sister, Edna Willoughby Jones.
