Mrs. Katherine Lorine Cotney's Obituary
Katherine Lorine Beason Cotney passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Baptist South Medical Center. Born on July 2, 1964 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, she was the daughter of Mr. Charles Wilburn Beason and Mrs. Shirley Ann West Beason. Katherine was a hard working woman with spirit and determination. She worked as a cashier and cook for the Exxon gas station in Dadeville for 16 years where she always greeted her customers with a warm smile.
When she wasn't working, her days would be spent gardening with her husband, planting rows of various vegetables. Katherine was a true southern woman who loved watching NASCAR, Alabama football, and curling up with her four precious fur babies. Family was the most important part of her life, and she never missed the chance to tell them how much they meant to her. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren who affectionately knew her as "Granny." Katherine was a loving wife, mother, granny, sister, and friend to those who knew her. She will be missed until the day when we are reunited once more.
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." -John 14:1-3
Katherine is survived by her husband of 40 years, Johnny Cotney; son, John (Wendy) Cotney; grandchildren, Brooklynn Cotney, Madalyn Cotney, Raelynn Cotney, Waylon Cotney; sisters, Kathy Clardy, Susan (Shane) Gordon; brother, Jesse Beason, Charles Beason; mother-in-law, Faye Tate; sisters-in-law, Linda (Philip) Grant, Angela (Greg) Bishop; brothers-in-law, Lynn (Cathy) Cotney, James (Kim) Cotney; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn & Shirley Beason; sisters, Marie Pepin, Ella Louise Tate; and grandparents, Zelmer & Lorine Beason and William & Catherine West.
