Judith Spence passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. She was born on January 4, 1942 in Aurora, Illinois to Mr. Charles F. Stuart and Mrs. Bertha Reiseck Stuart. On July 3, 1962, in San Fernando, California, Judith married the love of her life, Jimmie Lee Spence, with whom she spent 61 years collecting treasures, trinkets, and memories together. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Alexander City and loved her Sunday School class. In her lifetime, Judith worked several different jobs in retail focusing on furniture and interior sales. She was quite sociable, which made her an excellent salesperson and employee. Outside of work, Judith could find joy in singing around her house, playing canasta, baking, knitting, crocheting, or becoming entranced by watching a murder mystery or classic Hallmark movie. She had a sweet tooth and was known for her love of chocolate, especially Baby Ruths, and eating the tin containers of popcorn with Jimmie where she'd always claim the caramel flavored ones.
Affectionately known as "Grandma," Judith adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved her dogs as much as she loved her children, if not more sometimes, and would always have at least two fur-babies to warm her home and heart. Judith was a joyful, happy, and gentle woman whose warmth and light will always burn brightly in the hearts of those who knew her. Her life was fulfilling, adventurous, and true.
Judith is survived by her husband, Jimmie Lee Spence; son, Daniel (Chrissie) Spence; daughter-in-law, Sheri Spence; grandchildren, Gregory (Hanna) Spence, Victoria Spence, Amber (Josh) Hughes, Garrick Spence, Danielle (Cody) Moon, Trace Spence, Ashlan Spence; great-grandchildren, Nick, Ashton, Reagan, Maya, Grayson, Sam, Carson; and sister, Patt Kentworthy.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Michael Spence; and parents, Charles and Bertha Stuart.
Radney Funeral Home is honored to serve the Spence family.
