Mr. Joseph "Joe" Vernon Foshee's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. Joseph "Joe" Vernon Foshee, 80, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Monday, October 13, 2025 at 3:30 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Dr. Steve King will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park with veteran honors by the Alexander City Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 13, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Joe, a cherished family man and proud veteran, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Alexander City, Alabama, on October 9, 2025. Born on February 12, 1945, to Russell Aaron and Mary Elizabeth Foshee, Joe's life was marked by dedication, service, and a deep love for his community.
Joe is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Dolores Willoughby Foshee; his children, Julie Foshee (Mike) Middleton, Joseph Lee (Donna) Foshee, and Jon Brandon (Melanie) Foshee. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Josh (Jennifer) Sims, Amber (Richard) Bradford, Michael Tanner Middleton, and Clayton Russell Foshee, along with his great-grandchildren Jayden, Connor, Lexie, Drake, and Dayson. His brother, Scotty (Amanda) Foshee; sister, Marylyn Foshee Brown; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Foshee, Donna Willoughby (John) Russell; uncle, Dan (Linda) Scott; aunts, Corrine Wright and Agnes Allen; and an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jimmy Foshee.
A standout athlete at Benjamin Russell High School, Joe was voted Most Athletic, a precursor to his life's achievements. He furthered his education at Auburn University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering. Joe's professional career spanned over 36 years at Russell Corporation, where his expertise and dedication as a Textile Engineer were highly valued.
Joe honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force for six years, rising to the rank of Captain. His patriotism and discipline were hallmarks of his character. At First Baptist Church, he was a longtime member, demonstrating his faith through action and fellowship.
An avid outdoorsman, Joe found solace and joy in the natural world. Whether hunting, golfing, or spending time on Lake Martin, he embraced the beauty of the outdoors with enthusiasm. His meticulous care for his yard reflected his passion for nature and his attention to detail.
Above all, Joe was a family man. His generous spirit and unwavering support for his loved ones were evident in everything he did, especially in his encouragement of his grandchildren's endeavors. His passion for life and his generous nature touched all who knew him, leaving a legacy of love, strength, and integrity.
