Mr. John Joe Penton Jr.'s Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. John Joe Penton, Jr., 80, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Pastor Ronnie Palmer will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Radney Funeral Home.
Joe passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023. He was born on February 7, 1943 in Coosa County, Alabama to John Joe Penton, Sr. and Roxie Annie Johnston Penton. Joe loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren who called him “Paw Paw”. He also loved attending the grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. Joe enjoyed spending summers on Lake Martin at the cabin with his family and friends. He was a member of Alexander City Methodist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class. Joe was a building contractor for many years and had a life-long passion for woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan Scroggins Penton; daughters, Kristen “Krissy” Gordon Hamby (Michael) and Angela Penton Pitts (Brad); grandchildren, Braxton Pitts (Fiance` Elizabeth), Georganna Hamby, Brett Pitts, and Mary Grantleigh Hamby; sisters, Betty Ann Estes and Joyce "Polly" Catrett (John).
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maggie Dean; and brothers, Bennett Penton, John Penton, Ed Penton, and Elzie Penton.
