Funeral Service for Mr. John William Iddon, 86, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 2:30 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Hicks will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Iddon passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at East Alabama Medical Center. He was born on July 17, 1934 in Munhall, Pennsylvania to Edward Iddon, Sr. and Edith Dewey Iddon. Mr. Iddon retired from the Social Security Administration after 30 years of service. He was a graduate of Penn State University and a member of the Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity. Mr. Iddon loved his family dearly. He was an avid Pittsburgh Sports fan and enjoyed collecting and selling a variety of different things after retirement. He was an active member and choir member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Mr. Iddon enjoyed being a member of The Gideons.
He is survived by his daughter, Connie Howard (Daryl); son, Brian Iddon (Melisa); son-in-law, Darryle Blankenship; grandchildren, Courtney Martin (Brad), Austin Howard (Chelsea), and Katie Welborn (Dustin); great-grandchildren, Cathryn Martin and Joseph Martin, and sister in law, Mary "Gib" Iddon.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Julia Lee Iddon; daughter, Carole Lee Blankenship; parents; sisters, Edith Clemons and Margie Johnson, and brother, Edward Iddon, Jr.
