John D. Harry's Obituary
Graveside services for John D. Harry, 89, of Duluth, GA, will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. (CDT) at Hillview Memorial Park in Alexander City, AL. Dr. Josh Sammons will officiate.
John was born in Goldville, AL in 1934. At the age of 21, John enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged four years later. He enjoyed 32 years as an Avionics Technician with Delta Airlines before retirement and then became employed at Lockheed Martin for five years building the C-130 aircraft, earning a second retirement. John was also a Flight Instructor. In 1991, he proudly completed the Boston Marathon and ran a total of about 20 marathons in his life. John was a member of First Baptist Church of Duluth.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Juanita McGill Harry; daughter, Julie Anita Recalde both of Duluth, GA; son and daughter-in-law, John Michael and Carole Ann Harry of Franklin, TN, son Gregory Patrick Harry of Marietta, GA; sister, Mary Alice Lawson of Lewiston, ID; brother, William Douglas Harry of Lineville, AL; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
