Mr. John Raymond Forbus' Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. John Raymond Forbus, 77, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Monday, June 14, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the West End Baptist Church. Rev. Donald DeLee will officiate. Mr. Forbus will lie in state from 12:00 pm until service time on Monday. Burial will follow in the Fishpond Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Forbus passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Russell Medical. He was born on June 5, 1944 in Alexander City, Alabama to Arnold Arthur Forbus and Etta Laverne Fuller Forbus. Mr. Forbus was a faithful and active member and Deacon of West End Baptist Church. He was a wonderful Christian man and always put others first. He was very humble, loving, caring, giving and selfless. He loved his family very much and was an amazing provider. He taught and instilled in his family a hard work ethic and taught his boys to be men and how to take care of their families. He worked for Russell Corporation for 43 years and retired as an Assistant Supervisor. He enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, cutting grass, watching wrestling and Alabama football. Mr. Forbus had a great sense of humor and loved pulling a prank on others.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Jean Hornsby Forbus of Alexander City; daughters, Patricia Jean Pike (Charles) of Alexander City and Priscilla Dean Jones (Keith Smith) of Millbrook; sons, Johnny Forbus (Melinda) of Alexander City, Billy Wayne Forbus (Kerry) of Alexander City and John R. Forbus, Jr. (Bethany) of Hanover; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; brothers, Walter Forbus (Frances) of Montgomery and James Forbus (Marcia) of Boise, ID; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruby Dean; brothers, Wayne Forbus, Ronald Forbus and Billy Forbus; and granddaughter, Joanie Wilkerson.
