John A. Blankenship's Obituary
John A. Blankenship, Sr., 86, of Lake Martin passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his residence. Visitation will be Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 5 pm until 7 pm at Radney Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Friday, November 9, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Mt. Hebron West Baptist Church Cemetery, 150 Mt. Hebron Road, Elmore, AL 36025. Rev. Danny Bynum will officiate.
Mr. Blankenship was born in Elmore County and was a graduate of Holtville High School and the University of Alabama. He served in the United States Army. He worked for the State of Alabama as a Rehabilitation Counselor for 32 years. He was a member of Weogufka Second Baptist Church and of the Masonic lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Verbie A. Blankenship; daughters, Geneva Hagelstein (Paul) and Eva Haggerty; granddaughter, Dr. Samantha Roberge (Dr. Taylor Roberge) and grandson, Clay Sims.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sue Ann Blankenship; son, John Allen Blankenship, Jr., sister, Peggy Patton, and his parents.
