Joe Clayton Guy Sr.'s Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. Joe Clayton Guy, Sr., 93, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Friday, January 26, 2024, at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Ministers James Cullins and Brendan Chance will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 12:30-1:30 at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Guy, fondly known as Grandaddy, who entered his heavenly home on January 23, 2024, at the age of 93, spent the last days of his life being surrounded by family. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, joy, hard work, and dedication to those who loved him. He dedicated his working years to a career at Area Concrete and often reminisced on building projects such as the renovation of the Kowaliga Bridge. He dedicated his time to the service of our country by serving in the United States Army. He was a faithful member of the Alexander City Church of Christ where he humbly served the Lord.Mr. Guy was born on February 28, 1930, in Alexander City, Alabama, to Willie Douglas Guy and Mary Shoffiet Guy. He later met the love of his life, Betty Mobley Guy, and together they raised a close-knit family and were married for 72 years. Joe and Betty traveled the country camping where he loved to cook, enjoyed napping, and playing pranks on others. He and his family enjoyed time sitting around the table on Friday nights playing cards. Joe enjoyed being outside, spending time on his lawn mower, and will always be remembered for his spectacular firework shows.Mr. Guy is survived by his loving wife, Betty, and their children; Clayton Guy (Abby), Sharon Sellers (Ward), Diane Sims (John), and Teresa Franklin (Tony); grandchildren, Lee Angle (Lorraine), Jessica Dean (Zac), Joseph Moncrief (Kimberly), Jane Hayes (Charlie), Lauren Dark (Zach), Carlisle Guy (Brannon), Wesley Sellers (Kellie), and Sarah Franklin; and a host of great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Neil Sims.Radney Funeral Home is honored to serve the Guy family.
