Mrs Joan Nivens Morgan's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Joan Nivens Morgan, 85, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Friday, January 3, 2025, at 12:00 pm (CST) at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Donnie Pritchard will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ashland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 10:30 am (CST) to 11:30 am (CST) at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Morgan passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on November 25, 1939, in Alexander City, Alabama to Walter Jackson Nivens and Ethel Johnston Nivens. She graduated from Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City, AL and attended Jacksonville State University. She spent her professional career of 32 years as a bank teller starting at Alexander City Bank and retiring from Wells Fargo Bank. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Alexander City.
She loved her dogs, the outdoors, planting, gardening, music, and dancing. Joan loved vacationing at the beach as well as the mountains with her family. She was an active member of the Alexander City Jaycettes (civic and service organization), honorary member of the Alexander City Bassmaster’s as well as Board member of the local Tallapoosa County Girls Ranch. Joan enjoyed luncheons and social activities with high school and college classmates and friends.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Morgan (Mary Dickens), Alan Morgan (Renea), Stephanie Bowen (Billy), Steve Morgan (Ashley); grandchildren, Blake Morgan, Miles Morgan (Sabrina), Mitch Morgan, Raylan Gilliland (Andrew), Reid Morgan (Kayla), Will Bowen, Morgan Bowen; great-grandchildren, Miley Goodson, Marlee Kate Goodson, Aubryn Morgan, Madisyn Morgan, Beamon Gilliland, Gaines Gilliland, and Wylder Morgan.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Morris Wright Morgan, Jr.; parents and, brother, Walter Jackson Nivens Jr.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Alabama Sheriff’s Girls Ranch, 174 Samford Drive, Camp Hill, AL, 36850 or to your local humane society.
