Joan Crim Clark, a cherished matriarch and friend to many, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Born with a kind heart and a generous spirit, Joan's legacy is one of love, friendship, and service. She will be remembered as a loving, thoughtful, and friendly soul who brought joy and comfort to all who knew her.
Joan was a proud graduate of Thomasville High School and furthered her education at Massey Draughn Business College. Her academic achievements paved the way for a remarkable career. Joan dedicated 37 years as an administrative assistant at Russell Corporation, where her professionalism and warmth were appreciated by colleagues and clients alike. After her retirement, she continued to share her talents with Alexander City Dermatology for 15 years, where she was equally valued and respected.
A woman of many interests, Joan found joy in traveling with family and friends, creating lasting memories on each journey. Her love for the game of bridge led her to become a member of numerous bridge clubs, where her sharp mind and competitive spirit shone through. Joan's commitment to personal growth and community was evident through her 50-plus year membership in Beta Sigma Phi sorority and her active participation in the Women's Study Club. These associations were not just pastimes but a testament to her belief in lifelong learning and fellowship.
Joan's most treasured moments were those spent with her loving family. She is survived by her daughters, Vickie C. (Derrick) Ragland of Trussville, AL, Donna C. (Bill) Young of Alexander City, AL, and Kelly C. (Daine) Sharpe of Jacksons Gap, AL. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Trey (Leia) Ragland, Clark Mackey, Kacie (Evan Watkins) Mackey, Collin (Megan Armstrong) Sharpe, Carlee Sharpe, Kendal (Erica Patterson) Sharpe, Kaylan (Bill) Williams, and Will Young. The light of her life also included her great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Ragland, Parker Ragland, Kayson Williams, and Kamryn Williams. Joan's brother, Max (Darlene) Crim, along with numerous nieces and nephews, will also hold her memory dear.
Preceding Joan in death were her father, Patrick M. Crim, her mother, Edith A. Crim, her beloved husband, Homer L. Clark, her precious grandchild, Kyle Mackey, and her brothers, Neil Crim and Buddy Crim. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and their memories remained a guiding light throughout her life.
Joan's impact on the world was as profound as it was graceful. Her loving nature, her thoughtfulness, and her friendly demeanor were the hallmarks of her character, touching the lives of everyone she encountered. Her absence will be deeply felt, yet the beauty of her spirit will continue to inspire and comfort those she has left behind.
As we bid farewell to Joan Crim Clark, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love and cherished moments. Her story is one of unwavering kindness, steadfast dedication to her family and community, and a joyous embrace of life's journey. Joan's memory will be held in the hearts of her loved ones as a beacon of the love and warmth she so freely gave.
In honoring Joan's life, we reflect on the words of Helen Keller: "What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Joan's love, indeed, has become a part of us all. Her legacy will continue to shine brightly through the lives of those she touched, and she will be profoundly missed.
