Mr. Spence passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at his residence. He was born on November 17, 1940 to Weldon Spence and Erma Spence. He was a member of First Baptist Church Alexander City. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his family and church dearly, and he enjoyed collecting clocks, lighthouses, computers, coupons, Bibles, and many other treasures. For much of his adult life, he could be found at 5:30 AM at his kitchen table, taking notes in his Bible and eating raisin bran while drinking a cup of coffee. He was the last person on the planet that was still buying black licorice. Jim Spence worked many trades, including being a restaurant-owner, business-owner, pizza delivery-man, and bus driver. As a retiree he enjoyed spending time watching hallmark movies with his wife, Judy Spence, and spending time with his many great-grand kiddos.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Sheri Spence of Alexander City; grandchildren, Gregory (Hanna) Spence, Victoria Spence, Amber (Josh) Hughes; numerous great grandchildren; and brother, Kenny (Paula) Spence.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judith Ann Spence; and son, Gregory Michael Spence.
