Mrs. Jewel Cauley Smith's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Jewel Cauley Smith, 92 of Alexander City, Alabama and Spartanburg, South Carolina will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Dr. Skip Lowery will officiate. The family will have visitation on Friday, June 23rd from 9:30 am to 10:30 am with the funeral services following at 11:00 am. Immediately following the funeral there will be a committal service at Hillview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Smith passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, June 18, 2023 in Spartanburg, South Carolina on her 68th wedding anniversary to her beloved husband, Neil. Jewel was born on June 23, 1930 in Bessemer, Alabama to Burey C. Cauley and Dura Stanley Cauley. She graduated from Dothan High School in 1949 and went on to graduate from Troy State Teachers College in 1952 where she was crowned Miss Cotton Queen her senior year. Mrs. Smith spent much of her teaching career at Jim Pearson Elementary School. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Alexander City and numerous local clubs. She was an avid bridge player, loved Auburn football, and spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren who affectionately called her “Geemo.” She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Neil Smith of Alexander City, Alabama. Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Randy Smith (Jacqui) of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; daughter, Angie Webster (Jimmy) of Birmingham, Alabama; son, David Smith (Tonja) of Spartanburg, South Carolina; grandchildren, Brittany Smith of Woodstock, Georgia; Sarah Abigail Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; Zack Smith (Jessica) of Phoenix, Arizona; Drew Webster of Atlanta, Georgia; Cole Smith and Laurel Smith of Spartanburg, South Carolina; Mayfield Reynolds (Holli) of Raleigh, North Carolina; Forest Reynolds (Kacey) of Spartanburg, South Carolina; great grandchildren, Everett Reese Reynolds and Foster Crockett Reynolds of Raleigh, North Carolina and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions can be made to Mrs. Smith’s favorite charity, Samaritan’s Purse or First Baptist Church of Alexander City.
