Jerry T. Richardson's Obituary
Mr. Jerry T. Richardson, 79, of Alexander City, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
He was born on December 30, 1944 in Sylacauga, to Orien Talmadge Richardson and Euna Mae Haynes Richardson. While working for Russell Lands, he contributed to engineering and piloting the remarkable "Wood Burning Car" on a celebrated cross-country journey.
A passionate golfer, Jerry found solace and joy on the greens, playing with the same precision and dedication that he applied to all his pursuits. He was a fervent supporter of his Auburn Tigers, exuding spirit and camaraderie that only a true fan could. Beyond sports, his garden was a testament to his patience and care, a serene spot he cultivated with love.
Jerry’s love for card games became legendary among his circle of friends, ensuring laughter and lively competition at every gathering. Most importantly, Jerry cherished his family, a pillar of strength and a beacon of love. His vibrant legacy will continue to inspire and warm the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Brooke (Brady) Whatley of Alexander City; sons, Jerry Scott (Angie) Richardson of Dadeville and Stephen Mark (Donna) Richardson of Wetumpka; grandchildren, Everlie Kate Whatley, Alison (Noah) Willis, Stephen Gage (Ansley) Richardson, and Savannah Richardson; great-grandchild, Ashlyn Richardson; sister, Pat (John) Blythe of Alexander City; and brother, Larry (Terri) Richardson of Alexander City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will hold a private service.
