Ms. Jennie Marie Smith Whatley's Obituary
Funeral Service for Miss Jennie Marie Smith Whatley, 49, of Alexander City, will be Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 2:30 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Bro. Norman Strickling will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Miss Whatley passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital. She was born on August 7, 1969 in Alexander City, Alabama to Jimmy Smith and Mary Ruth Matthews Smith. Marie took several cosmetology classes at CACC in Childersburg and enjoyed doing hair and makeup. Marie was an excellent waitress and took great pride in her job and taking care of her customers. She loved going to the lake, casinos, playing board and card games, bowling and collecting watches and old coins. Marie was a people person and enjoyed socializing with others and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Scott Dewayne Smith (Lacy) and William Christopher Whatley (Crysta), both of Alexander City; grandchildren, Sabrina, Noah, & Hope Whatley and James & William Smith; mother, Mary Ruth Smith of Alexander City; brother, James R. Smith and his wife, Robyn of Niceville, FL; sister, Kathryn Denise Lyner of Alexander City; and nieces and nephews, Kaden, Simon, & Wiley Smith, Ashley Abrams and Elise Smith; great nephew, Peyton Abrams; and several aunts, uncles and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Smith.
