Graveside Service for Jeanette M. Self, 83, of Equality, Alabama will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Equality Methodist Church Cemetery. Bro. Jackie Morgan will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Equality Methodist Church.Jeanette was born on November 30, 1939, in Shelby County, Alabama to Orean Blake McDaniel and Irene Bryant McDaniel and passed away peacefully in Alexander City, Alabama, on September 23, 2023. Jeanette was a figure of optimism and generosity, remembered by all who knew her for her adventurous spirit and joy of life.
Jeanette was a member of the Equality Methodist Church and worked diligently as a Quality Control Inspector for Russell Corporation for over 40 years. Every job she performed was touched by her determination and enthusiasm, characteristics that brought light to her workplace and to all those who worked with her.
Among her various interests, Jeanette enjoyed camping and vegetable gardening. She loved the out-of-doors, and her sense of humor touched everyone she met. She was known as a jokester and often kept her family members laughing with her lighthearted pranks and quick wit. Her free spirit was further evidenced by her love of riding motorcycles, an activity that embodied her adventurous facet.
She is survived by her loving son, Johnny Ray Self, and his wife Patty, and her stepdaughter, Donna Jo Bishop and her husband Ronnie. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Tammy Johns (Jeff), Blake Self (Rachel), Dixie and Josh, and six great-grandchildren, who will miss their grandmother's lively company. Jeanette is also remembered by her loving siblings, Sarah Williamson, Shirley Mooney (Paul), James Heflin McDaniel, and his wife Ann, Randy Blake McDaniel, and his wife Diane.She was preceded in death by her beloved late husband, Jack T. Self and her sons Barry Lynn Self, and James Hansel Self, along with her parents and other siblings.
As we remember Jeanette, we celebrate her life and her enduring influence on the lives of those she loved. Her boundless spirit, her love for life, and her warm and generous heart will always be remembered. Jeanette, we carry your memory with us.
