Mrs. Jean Guthrie Hare's Obituary
Jean Guthrie Hare (“Mimi”), 94, of Pooler, GA and formerly of Birmingham, AL will have a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery Friday July 9, 2021 at 11:30. Pastor Mike Densmore will officiate. Mrs. Hare passed away July 3, 2021 in Savannah, GA. She was born on March 1, 1927 in Townley, AL to Charles Guthrie and Robbie Sellers Guthrie and grew up in Walker County, AL. She graduated from Walker County High School and attended The University of Alabama majoring in Accounting. Once her children started school, she continued her education and received a teaching degree and Masters in Education from Samford University in Birmingham, AL. She taught at Minor High School most of her 27 years of teaching. She was married to J.L. Hare for an astounding 65 years and was a devoted and loving wife. Mimi loved to cook – family favorites were squash casserole and green bean casserole; she loved to play solitaire, the show Blue Bloods, the Weather Channel, and her precious cat.
Jean is survived by her son Jay L. Hare (Elizabeth) of Alexander City, AL; daughter Robbie Jean Hare of Pooler, GA; granddaughters Betsy Hare Marshall (Lanier) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; Maggie Hare Mitchell (Chris) of Amsterdam, The Netherlands; great grandchildren Culver and Lanier Marshall. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sisters Charlene Guthrie Burton and Marion Guthrie.
