Janice Lenora Reed's Obituary
Memorial Service for Mrs. Janice Lenora Reed, 82, of Alexander City, will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the River Road Baptist Church.
Janice Reed passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on February 15, 1941 in Clay County, Alabama to Hermon Roughton and Ruth Branch Roughton. Janice was an active member of River Road Baptist Church. She enjoyed painting, cooking, sewing, and playing the piano while her family gathered around to sing favorite hymns. Janice, affectionately known as "Granny," loved her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a joyful, sweet, and welcoming soul that will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Janice is survived by her husband, Jim Reed; daughters, Joan (Ronnie) Baker, Robbie (Steve) Denney, Jennifer (D.J.) James; son, Ronald (Kim) Reed; grandchildren, Billy Baker, Steven (Sofia) Denney, Haley (Derek) Stidham, Matt Denney, Ashley Denney (James Burdon), Samantha Baker, Abbie James, Wes James; great-grandchildren, Claire Stidham, Giuliana Denney, Chloe Stidham, Corinna Denney; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hermon and Ruth Roughton; sisters, Joyce Thompson, Sandra Greene; and brothers, Aaron Roughton, Gaaron Roughton.
