Mr. James Wade Mahan's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. James Wade Mahan, 80, of New Site, Alabama, will be Monday, April 10, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Rocky Creek Baptist Church. Dr. Josh Sammons, Rev. Roosevelt Gregory, and Randy Anderson will officiate. He will lie instate at the church for one hour prior to the church. Burial will follow in the Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 9, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Mahan passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at his residence. He was born on August 23, 1942, in Alexander City, Alabama to Pleasant Wade Mahan and Clarice Katherine Jones Mahan. He was an active member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church. He played the bass guitar for the Ambassadors Quartet for many years and loved gospel music. Mr. James was an excellent cook and was well known for his cakes, fried apple pies, and peanut brittle. He loved camping with his family at Wind Creek, fishing, and eating fried fish. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Diane Lankford Mahan of New Site; daughters, Michelle Hilyer of New Site and Kim Welch (Joe) of Goodwater; grandchildren, Jami Young (Tim), Kristi Yarbrough (Joseph) , Ryan Grant (Nina), Kyndal Chandler (Jake); great-grandchildren, Brady Alford, Wes Young, Brantley Young, , Emmarie Grant; Great-great-grandchild, Kyleigh Alford; brother, Ronnie Mahan; niece Karen Harris (Rob); and nephew, Keith Dean (Melissa).
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in law, Sherlene and Gary Dean; and son-in-law, Rodney Hilyer.
