Memorial Service for Mr. Jim Griffin, 67, of Alexander City, will be Friday, June 20, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. James Martin Griffin, affectionately known as Jim to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on August 8, 1957, in Memphis, Tennessee to Daniel Webster Griffin and Bertha Mae Kirksey Griffin. Jim's life was characterized by his friendly demeanor, gentle spirit, and loving nature, which endeared him to all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Della May Griffin of Alexander City, AL, who was his partner in life's journey for over four decades. Together, they created a family that includes their devoted daughter, Rosemary Gran of Auburn, AL; their son, James Scaife, and his wife Jacie of AR; and their cherished grandchildren, Bently Gran, Dillan Gran, Lucy Gran, and Caleb Scaife. Jim also leaves behind brothers, James Edward Griffin (LaCinda) and Mike Smith, who will miss his companionship and wise counsel, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who looked up to him as a role model. His legacy is also felt in the memories shared with his extended family and the close-knit community that he was a part of.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Webster Griffin and Bertha Mae Griffin, his granddaughter Sydney Gran, two sisters, and a brother. Their memories remained a guiding light in Jim's life, and he often spoke of them with affection and reverence.
A man with a passion for the past, Jim spent countless hours at yard sales, flea markets, and antique shops, where he had an uncanny ability to uncover hidden treasures. His love for antiques was not just about the objects themselves but the stories and history they carried. This hobby allowed Jim to connect with others who shared his interests, and he was always eager to share the knowledge he had gained with anyone who would listen.
Jim's friendly nature made him a well-known figure in his community. His gentle smile and willingness to lend a hand meant that friends and strangers alike could count on him for support and kindness. He was the embodiment of love in action, always putting the needs of others before his own, and his presence radiated warmth and compassion.
As we bid farewell to Jim, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on through the lives he touched. He was a beacon of love and kindness that illuminated the lives of his family and friends. Jim's life was a testament to the power of gentleness in a world that often forgets its value. We will remember him for his unwavering love, his dedication to his family, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join us as we celebrate Jim's life and the countless moments of joy and laughter he brought into our world. His story is not one of an end but a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire and guide us for generations to come.
