Mr. James Earl Hooks' Obituary
Graveside Service for Mr. James Earl Hooks, 69, of Alexander City, will be Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tony Harris will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Hooks passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at his residence. He was born on March 3, 1950 in Union Springs, Alabama to John Richard Hooks and Annie Ruth Mask Hooks. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Mr. Hooks’ family was his everything and he loved them dearly. He was always worried about others and never himself. He was a hard worker and stayed on the go all the time. He enjoyed fishing and working at his thrift shop, the “Kajun Kloset”.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Laverne Hooks of Alexander City; his children, Dathia Newman (Ryan) of Alexander City, Morgan McLeroy (Melissa) of Goodwater, James Earl Lee (Whitney) of Millbrook, Angela Towns (Jason) of Millbrook and Phillip Hooks (Kim) of Jacksons Gap; step-daughter, Amanda McCain (Barry) of Goodwater; numerous grandchildren; brothers, Billy Joe Hooks (Gloria), David Randall Hooks (Glenda) of Tallassee, John Hooks, Jr. (Patricia) of Bluff Springs and Bryant Hooks of Kellyton; a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Adam Hooks; daughters, Penny McLeroy and Julie Finch; brothers, Jerry Leonard Hooks and Johnny Walls Hooks; and sister, Glenda Gail Tilley.
